Driver Assessment

Driver Risk Assessments for Company Car Drivers

Driver Assessments are an integral part of fleet management and a legal requirement for all companies, though one which many are unsure of how to carry out.

DriveCert aim to give companies and their drivers certainty through our company car driver professional certification. This involves assessing the capabilities of drivers in the vehicles they will be driving for work, whether it be a company car or personal vehicle used on business (grey fleet). The practical and theoretical driver assessment involves:

  • Driver knowledge and attitude testing- online assessment on the highway code and professional driving
  • Driver risk assessment – online assessment to check driver history and licencing
  • Practical vehicle checks – either from company policy, or a simple checklist we will provide – 10 minutes
  • On-road driving assessment – with clear, nationally recognised criteria checking driver safety and competence – 40 minutes

The practical assessments can be carried out at your workplace, in the vehicle your drivers will be expected to use for work.

Cost:

  • £540/assessor-day, with up to 6 candidates. (£90/candidate)
  • £1800/assessor-week, with up to 30 candidates (£60/candidate)

Suitable for:

  • Driver interview and recruitment
  • Large fleets as part of an ongoing training programme

Driver assessment without training is a structured examination of a driver’s competence. We recommend it’s use only for driving interviews and as part of a driver recruitment process, or as part of an ongoing driver training programme. The criteria are based on those used in the UK driving test and a comprehensive evaluation of driving errors are recorded. If successful, drivers are eligible to be awarded the RoSPA Vocational Driver (Car) certification, which is a nationally recognised professional driving qualification. If unsuccessful, we will detail areas requiring remedial training. For interview and recruitment processes, we can grade drivers according to how much work is required to achieve the standard – many drivers may not pass this assessment first time and we will obviously let clients know if the remedial training required would take longer than our standard Driver Training Course.
